Mike and I are aligned in our interest in the use of visual arts to gain emotional wisdom. Coloring has been a pastime of mine for many years, and Mike creates illustrations to color, among other visual arts in his practice. He is a comics artist, illustrator and Zen Buddhist whose work focuses on themes of spirituality, positivity and love. He is an art editor at Jessica Kingsley Publishers, where he is working on a range of comics and graphic novels about topics like chronic pain, dementia, Asperger’s Syndrome, PTSD and anxiety. Mike is also a blogger for The
Huffington Post and the author of One Year Wiser, published by SelfMadeHero. It is a collection of 365 daily meditations adapted into full page illustrations. There is also a One Year Wiser coloring book, with a weekly illustration to color.
Mike is living in London, UK and working on a comics project for Elephant Journal where he creates a weekly comic/blog post looking at different ideas around the subject of mindfulness. The project is called the Mindful Life Illustrated and you can read all his posts here.
